Coming Together as ONE to Make a Difference

On August 4th, The ONE Project NJ hosted a meal packing event at Robbinsville High School. The ONE Project NJ is a nonprofit organization. They work to bring the community together to address social needs through education and volunteering. This was their fifth project with Feeding Children Everywhere to fight hunger throughout New Jersey.

The project welcomed 1,500 community volunteers of all ages to pack our Red Lentil Jambalaya. The volunteers worked in five shifts and were organized between 20 assembly lines. We were very excited to work alongside The ONE Project NJ in an upbeat environment.

There were so many aspects to this service opportunity that made it special for the volunteers working. The ONE Project NJ used local vendors to make the project engaging and unique. A shaved ice truck kept volunteers fueled during their shifts and a balloon artist kept it colorful and light-hearted. A local band performed live music the entire day to keep the meal packing event energetic and the volunteers enthusiastic about the meals they were packing.

By the end of the nonprofit event, volunteers packed 131,000 meals. All of this food will be distributed through the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. This will help fight hunger for children and families in the central New Jersey community.

Working as One

As a community we can come together as one to work towards the goal to end hunger. You can contribute to the fight by joining us at a community Hunger Project, or host one of your own!
