Feeding Children Everywhere recently launched its satellite office in Dallas, and what better way to celebrate than with a Texas-sized hunger project?
On February 14, Chick-fil-A partnered with FCE to host a special hunger project in Dallas, packaging a million meals … in one hour.
“This will be the first time that FCE has ever worked with that many people at once,” Jarrod Fucci, Vice President of Program Operations at Feeding Children Everywhere shared prior to the event. “We’ve never done a project over 100 assembly lines. But we’re going to set up 400 assembly lines, and with 5,000 key volunteers, we’re going to package 1 million meals in one hour. We’re going to break an FCE record, and it’s going to be awesome.”
And Chick-fil-A did just that. With confetti cannons firing as the millionth meal was packaged, Chick-fil-A broke an FCE record. In less than one hour, Chick-fil-A packaged 1,073,528 meals for hungry families.
The million meals that Chick-fil-A packaged with FCE will be distributed across the U.S. to food banks in 13 states.
“This is a great accomplishment, and it speaks volumes of Chick-fil-A’s commitment to people in the communities they serve,” says Dave Green, CEO at FCE.
Chick-fil-A’s partnership with FCE is a longstanding one, beginning in 2014 when the organization was brought in as a partner for Chick-fil-A Leader Academy kickoff events. Since then, FCE has continued to be a valued partner for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and at many grand openings of new restaurants.
To date, Chick-fil-A has mobilized 48,029 volunteers to package 5,038,075 meals at 71 hunger projects.
