Hunger Heroes at The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian) reached a milestone today, packaging their 100,000th meal for hungry people with Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE).

Guardian’s employees packaged more than 14,000 nutritious meals with FCE today at its offices in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, taking them past the 100,000-meal mark. The meals will be delivered to local food banks just in time for the holidays, with help from UPS Freight and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

There was music booming, lentils flying and hairnets as far as the eye could see as these joyful volunteers rolled up their sleeves and worked side-by-side packaging meals assembly line style.

For more than 150 years, Guardian has been committed to having a positive impact on society through corporate social responsibility. Employees regularly volunteer their time, skills and ideas to help local communities.

“Reaching this milestone is a testament to Guardian’s commitment to corporate social responsibility,” says Dave Green, CEO for FCE. “‘People count’ is one of Guardian’s core values, and they demonstrate this with their ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of the communities they serve.”

“Without nutritious food to fuel them, many will not be able to reach their full potential,” says Michael Carren, head of strategic philanthropy at Guardian. “That is why partnering with FCE is important to Guardian. We are helping to serve those who can benefit the most and are building bonds between our employees and our communities that will make a difference in the future.”
