Feeding Children Everywhere’s Pledge to Environmental Sustainability

As part of our mission to end hunger around the world, Feeding Children Everywhere is making a pledge to environmental sustainability. In 2017, we’re taking steps aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and promoting food production in the communities where our Red Lentil Jambalaya is served.

Global climate disruption is impacting the planet in ways never experienced in human history. Warmer temperatures are contributing to changing weather patterns that cause more intense storms and heavier rainfall in some places and drought in others.

These changes are having a direct effect on worldwide hunger. In response:

  • We are proud to announce that we will now be packaging our Red Lentil Jambalaya in biodegradable bags. Our meal positively impacts the lives of all who receive it, and we want our meal bags to do the same.
  • We will soon begin planting trees in the countries where our meals are distributed internationally.
  • Additionally, we are taking steps as an organization to manage our overall carbon emissions by reducing company travel by 40 percent and opening a satellite office and warehouse in Dallas to serve as a central distribution point.
  • We’re also working to bring urban farming to low-income communities that don’t have sufficient access to healthy and affordable food, transforming food deserts into food producers.

As you can see, 2017 is going to be a great year for FCE as we look forward to not only reducing our carbon footprint but also providing sustainability solutions for those communities most impacted by hunger.
