LONGWOOD, Fla. – A total of 61,632 meals that left Feeding Children Everywhere’s warehouse last week are scheduled to arrive in Haiti today thanks to a partnership with Habitat for Children Ministries.

Established in 2011, Habitat for Children Ministries provides school supplies and other essential goods and services for orphaned children in Haiti. Founder and president Meschac St. Amour started as a volunteer to help kids get an education and walk alongside members of the community toward self-sufficiency.

Normally, Habitat for Children Ministries ships both meals and school supplies collected through events in the United States to the three Haitian schools it sponsors. However, this shipment consisted solely of meals. “Right now, it’s a different purpose, a different process,” said St. Amour. “It’s good for us to be present and to help out our country and our people in Haiti.”

St. Amour is working with the mayor of Les Cayes, one of the areas hardest hit by the hurricane, to assess where the meals are needed the most. This shipment is scheduled to arrive today, Monday, Oct. 24.
