Development Director




Position Summary:

Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO, the Development Director will spearhead development efforts in the Central Florida community. As part of the senior management team in Orlando, Florida, a key focus will be management of the Development Department and ensuring that overall fundraising goals are achieved in accordance with the organization’s annual and capital fundraising plans.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • Oversee major gifts, special events, grants, corporate sponsorship and board giving to meet and exceed the annual fund goal established by the organization’s leadership team
  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective relationships
  • Engage and solicit gifts from top-tier donors by proactively identifying, recruiting, researching, qualifying and cultivating prospects
  • Carry-out special capital and restricted giving campaigns that help Feeding Children Everywhere secure the necessary resources to expand its facilities and programs
  • Build the planned giving program with a focus on bequests
  • Make regular speaking engagements to share information about Feeding Children Everywhere with special groups
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of electronic and print communications and appeals
  • Maintain accountability standards to donors and assure compliance with the code of ethics, principles and standards of professional conduct


  • A minimum of 5 years experience in professional fundraising, particularly major gift fundraising
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build external relationships
  • Be self-motivated and disciplined to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls to meet development goals
  • Knowledge of the Central Florida community preferred
  • Ability to build, motivate, work within and manage a team to accomplish Development goals
  • Proficient in or ability to learn and use donor and event management software (including DonorPro, EventBrite and FirstGiving)
  • Experience planning, coordinating and leading events and projects
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Feeding Children Everywhere
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary to attend meetings, fundraising or programmatic events

Education/Experience Requirements

  • BA/BS in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications or related field required
  • CFRE or MBA is preferred
